Competition Rules

THE FOLLOWING RULES APPLY TO ALL CLUB COMPETITIONS (As adopted at AGM 2011)

General Competition Rules
  • All competitions shall be open to all fully paid-up members. Entry into the various competitions implies acceptance of these rules and failure to adhere to the rules will result in disqualification.

  • In most competitions there shall be two categories - one for prints, one for projected digital images (PDI) - each will be awarded a trophy.

  • All print entries must be in the hands of the Competition Secretary no later than 7.45pm on the evening of the competition, without exception. All PDI entries, not submitted to the competition organiser on the preceding Thursday, must be submitted by email to pdientries@biggleswadecameraclub.co.uk no later than midnight at the end of the Sunday preceding the competition. Images not submitted on time will not be entered.

  • Prints may be monochrome or colour, home or trade-processed. They should be mounted in a 50 cm x 40 cm rectangle of card. The minimum picture size is 308 square centimetres. Prints should not be submitted framed behind glass or plastic. Names or Titles must not be added to the front of the print.

  • PDI images must fit within a canvas size of 1400 pixels (wide) by 1050 pixels (high), and space filled with black (see examples below). All PDIs must be jpg (quality 12) and sRGB colourspace. Names or Titles must not be added onto the image.

  • No image or substantially similar image shall be submitted in print and PDI form on the same evening.

  • Members are encouraged to enter new work. Each image may be used up to 3 times, this includes combinations of print and PDI:

  • Once in the Challenge Cup Competition
Once in either the Portfolio Competition, People Competition or Theme Competition
Once in the Print of the Year Competition or PDI of the Year Competition.
It cannot then be entered in subsequent seasons.

  • The Theme Competition and Challenge Cup set subjects, chosen by the committee, will be announced at the AGM of the previous season.

  • All trophy winners, with the exception of those for the Print and PDI of the Year, must return them at the time required for them to be engraved for the next recipient. A certificate is given to the winner and runner-up in each competition, as a permanent record of their achievement. Winners of Print & PDI of the Year receive retainable trophies rather than certificates.

  • A condition of entering all club competitions is that images will be retained for the remainder of the season to facilitate selection for external competitions. They will be available for the member to use on competition nights. A PDI must also be provided for every print submitted into print competitions.

  • The ownership of any images entered remains with the author.

  • Prints and PDIs are entered for competition/exhibition at members' own risk. Whilst every care will be taken of members' work, the Club cannot accept liability for loss, unauthorised use or damage howsoever caused.

  • The judge's decision is final.
